How Merino Wool is Produced?

Merino wool is a natural fibre grown by Merino sheep consuming natural ingredients like sunlight, water, fresh air and grass. As a result of consuming natural ingredients, Merino Sheep can produce 4 to 5 pounds of wool per year.
It is exciting to know that this oldest known animal fibre is composed of natural protein i.e. Keratin which is found in human hair. Each fibre is covered in scale which is important in making woollen clothes.

The Many Uses of Marino Wool

Merino Wool is remarkably outstanding wool. Despite being widely available and inexpensive, it is one of the softest and most luxurious wools available in the market.
Shirts, Blouses and even tank tops are made with merino wool. It is also used to make blazers, blankets, sportswear etc. Due to its softness and hypoallergenic nature, it is ideal for baby blankets and clothing.
The most popular application of merino wool is in sweaters. It is made with fine fibres and is softer than the cotton.
Since it is very lasting and durable, thus the application is also seen in area rugs and carpets. It has natural temperature-regulating properties that make it perfect for year-round use.

The Performance Benefits of Merino Wool

I: Thermo Regulating: Merino wool has a natural climate regulating system. When it comes to comfort, the breathing qualities of fabric hold great advantage. It made it perfect for all-year clothing

II: Cooling & Warmth: When it’s hot, the fibre absorbs the body moisture vapours and evaporates them outside the fabric- keeping your body cool and nice. In wintertime, these moisture vapours condense inside the fibre, giving off heat- keeping the body warm and nice

III: Odour Resistant: Merino wool absorbs all the odour molecules and releases them upon washing. No matter how hot the weather is, one will not odour and feel fresh. This fibre is great for travelling or longer treks

IV: Quickly Dried & Wrinkle Resistant: Merino wool is a fine fabric and it releases water easily. The elastic properties of this incredible wool make it wrinkle-resistance

V: Easy to Wash: The Merino wool is easy to wash. The stains on t-shirts made of it are not absorbed due to its protective outer layer

VI: Does not Itch: Merino wool does not itch. The wool fibres are so soft, and flexible that they bend when they come in contact with the body without any sensation

VII: UV Resistant: The natural UV barrier of the fibre keeps you safe from damaging UV radiation from the sun- unlike synthetic and cotton

VIII: Renewability Benefit: Merino wool is made of fresh air, grass and water. The merino sheep that provide the wool graze the hills, deliver a new fleece harvest twice a year

IX: Biodegradable Property: Merino wool disappears after about 12 months in the ground. It makes use of natural resources to regrow. It is 100% biodegradable and does not require any chemicals.
